Brief history of the Tizón house
This house was built in the 18th century and rebuilt by the Ponte family after the great fire that took place in Garachico in 1911. For years, it belonged to a local family and, on the first floor, it had a library and a school for children, where private classes of mathematics, language and history were given. Later, it was remodeled, preserving its roofs and Canarian style, and was used for years as a family home. Later, three spacious rooms were designed for vacation rentals. In 2024, it was acquired by new owners and renamed Tizón, a name inspired by a species of giant lizard endemic to the islands of Tenerife and La Palma.
